Take nine powerful young women, one high school soccer team, and a practice field where everything is possible, and you have all the makings of The Wolves, a co-production from Geordie Theatre and Imago Theatre.
First presented Off-Broadway to critical acclaim and now hitting the stage at the Segal Centre in November, The Wolves is an up close and personal look at young women defining themselves on home turf. The result is an intimate, no-holds-barred look at how teen girls discover who they are through difficult conversations about belonging, friendship, sexuality, grief, and politics.
“I wrote this play in a sports bra,” says The Wolves playwright Sarah DeLappe. “I overshare not to advocate for method writing…but to suggest what sort of play this play was from the start. Physical. Concerned with the body, with women’s bodies, not as eye candy or symbolic vessels but as muscular, dexterous, capable, contradictory and fallible individuals.”
All performances will be followed by a talkback session with invited guest speaker.
Discover why The Wolves was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as a New York Times Critics’ Pick.
The Wolves runs November 6 to 17. Tickets can be purchased here.
