On Saturday, March 30th, I had the chance to see “The View’ perform live at Il Motore in Montreal.
The show started at 9pm with an opening act performed by a local Montreal band “The Right Track.”
They really got things going to a great start, their songs were a combination of great rock with a some songs sounding a bit more electronic with the addition of some very dance oriented keyboard sounds.
The View came on stage 15 minutes late, but the band from Scotland got the crowd going right away, everyone really got into their music and were up and dancing in no time. The View has that very distinct & wonderful UK sound. The bassist Kieren Webster also took the mic between songs and told some jokes, with some great humor, it got the crowd even more involved. At one point the audience was even asked to come closer to the stage. What a great way to get personal with your fans.

According to online sources, the lead singer Kyle Falconer suffers from debilitating anxiety, none of that showed here, the band was great, every song was tight & sounded good. My only 2 issues were the vocals were sometimes not very clear, and as a lead vocalist, Kyle Falconer should not have been chewing gum while performing, but that is just my opinion.

The View played for about an hour, at the end, they just finished their last song, and without any goodbyes, they quickly ran off stage as though they were late for their bus. It just felt very sudden, I think they should have at least said something to end the show, but they just left.
Overall, a great show, I had never heard “The View” before, but I can definitely say that I would buy their music. As I stated before, they have that distinct UK sound, A very similar sound to The Proclaimers, but more edgy. A great sound. I look forward to what this band comes up with next.
