Writer, producer, and former journalist Shelby Thevenot is a comedian on a mission: They want to show audiences what it’s like to come out of the closet late in life—and live their best gay life. Late-in-Life Lesbian is making its world premiere at the 2024 Fringe Fest with some important insights and hilarious reflections on self-discovery.
Written with other late-bloomer queers in mind, Thevenot’s half-hour stand-up show is a fresh take on the lesbian and non-binary experience, exploring what motivates someone to live their authentic life at last while examining the current rise in anti-queer hate across the country… and beyond.
“It is a deeply personal story that holds a mirror up to a world that hates women and gays,” says Thevenot. “If you are queer, questioning, or curious about how a person could stay closeted for more than three decades of their life—this show is for you.”
Directed by fellow queer comedian and performer Lucy Gervais, Late-in-Life Lesbian promises to deliver a moving personal story with an approach that is deeply funny and incredibly heartfelt.
Late-in-Life Lesbian will premiere at Petit Campus on June 8, with shows running until June 16. Purchase your tickets here.
