Get into the Holiday Spirit and support Geordie Theatre

Preparations for the play are well underway.

Montreal’s own Geordie Theatre is a professional non-profit company that’s has been around since 1980, presenting English productions across the city and beyond while offering kids an opportunity to discover and take part in live theatre. They are truly a local treasure.

Geordie’s annual Holiday fundraiser is coming up this week, and the production promises to be a fun and memorable one: Frank Capra’s classic It’s a Wonderful Life. Directed by Geordie’s own Mike Payette and Jessica Abdallah, this performance will feature actors from Montreal’s business, legal, and medical fields—including retired Supreme Justice Pepita Capriolo and the Honourable Jean-François Buffoni.

Coming to the Geordie stage December 6 and 7!

Come discover this re-imagined Holiday favourite, where George Bailey (Nicolas Doyon), on the edge of financial ruin and contemplating taking his own life, is visited by bumbling angel Clarance Odbody (Geordie board president Brett Hooton). The two spend a single night learning what a world without George Bailey would look like, and what the impact of a wonderful life really is.

“Over the past few months, over thirty individuals have come together to volunteer their talents in support of our mission,” says Geordie Artistic Director, Mike Payette. “Their invaluable contributions, along with our audiences’ support, make our gala fundraiser a highlight of the year for Geordie, where we can see and celebrate the work of not only the company but our extraordinary community.”

Proceeds of this event will go towards helping Geordie Theatre present their 2Play School Tour which reaches some 200 schools every year, fund their ongoing Mainstage Series, and run their incredible Geordie Theatre School program.

Each performance will be followed by a cocktail and catered reception, which will include a silent auction where you can bid on a selection of Holiday-themed gifts, as well as a raffle to win tickets to anywhere Air Canada flies in North America.

Post-play after party, with cocktails, snacks, and an auction.

Shows will be presented at Concordia University’s D. B. Clarke Theatre on Friday December 6 at 7 p.m., as well as Saturday December 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Get your tickets right here.
