They’re Rocking the Rocky Horror Show at the Mainline

You know how this story goes—a little singing, a little dancing, a little spooky, a little sexy, and a whole lot of fun. And at the Mainline, they are breathing new life into this classic with one amazing performance of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show.

It had been years and years since I saw Rocky with an audience, and it was everything I remembered—and more. A packed house, a live band in my right ear, half the audience who knew all the words, the other half amazed and amused, new lines called out to applause and guffaws, and a cast who elevated the whole thing to levels only Montreal can pull off. With a wink to modern life (Hillary 2020!), and another to the city (In the back, tabernacle!), you won’t find this kind of performance anywhere else.

The phantoms are a terrifying delight, playing both people and props. Brad (Zachery Sykes) and Janet (Hanna Nes) sizzle in a nerdly-cum-hither flame. Dr. Frank N. Furter (Stephanie Mckenna) hits the high notes with pipes and handstands and a performance you won’t ever want to look away from. And Columbia (Maxine Segaliwitz), well… she’s a scream, in every way. I’d pay just to watch her react to a fistful of magic dust again.

And of course Rocky (Nich Patzelt) himself, in all his golden glory, steals the show at all the right moments. I don’t remember the last time I had this much fun on a night out.

Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show will be playing at the Mainline October 24-26, 30-31, and November 1-2, at 8 p.m.

You can reserve tickets—and if I were you, I’d hurry—here.

You can also upgrade your show with VIP tickets that include a reserved seat, PARTICI… PATION kit, and free drink at the bar.
